Herstory Poetry Prompt

I know that not all of you are women but all of you know women and come from a long line of women.I hope you have found a way to celebrate the women in your life during this Women's History/Herstory Month. We are going to be celebrating women here on Poets on the Page, all week.

“Be wild; that is how to clear the river. The river does not flow in polluted, we manage that. The river does not dry up, we block it. If we want to allow it its freedom, we have to allow our ideational lives to be let loose, to stream, letting anything come, initially censoring nothing. That is creative life. It is made up of divine paradox. To create one must be willing to be stone stupid, to sit upon a throne on top of a jackass and spill rubies from one’s mouth. Then the river will flow, then we can stand in the stream of it raining down.” ― Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Women Who Run With The Wolves: Contacting the Power of the Wild Woman

Poetry Prompt:

Do you have a wild woman in your family? Maybe an aunt, sister, grandmother. Tell us about the wild woman in your family, the one that goes her own way, the one that creates her own path instead of following someone else's.

Word Prompt: Wild Woman

Shadow Poetry type: Loop Poetry - Be wild and try something new!

This is a blog hop! Share your poetry by coming back and linking up and then grab the link and put it on your page. Visit your neighbors and share word love in the comments!

I am celebrating the launch of my second book, Wild Woman Waking, with a Book blog tour that begins today and continues for two weeks of interviews, reviews and guest posts with some really great women bloggers! You can check it all out on my blog.

Hope you have a great week!

  1. I think I am the wild woman in my family! :-)

One of the reasons I started Literary Grannies was to claim my word-love lineage. So fun to discover that even though my biological family may not be filled with writing women, writing women fill me!!

    1. Of course you are the wild woman in your family! I pretty much am as well but I was hoping that even though most of us are the wild ones, that maybe, they could find wild stories somewhere within their lineage. That was my hope anyway. But any poem/story of a wild woman whether family or not would be wonderful to share (even if it is your own story!)
